Bettencourt and Salgado, whose shop called Scrapile is located in Brooklyn NY, have developed a unique method of collecting and converting or repurposing discarded scraps of wood from the city’s woodworking industry. The designs are unique because of the variety of the wood grain used in the furniture.
I want to explore this idea of reclaimation of scrap materials in order to create new products. This is an area that needs to be expanded upon and made mainstream as we must ensure that material wastage is kept to a minimum within production.
